It's here! Tax day! Do you find yourself over taxed and underpaid? I signed up to have my pound of flesh dedcuted from my checking account today. Don't want to part with it any earlier than I have too. And my disillusionment with the government is forcing me to cling to my guns and religion and to be suspicious of outsiders. Only kidding! But I am having fun with this one, watching Hillary trying to pass herself off as the poster child for the common man when she and her DH have made $109MM in seven years. I also loved how Obama got back at her saying she was acting all Annie Oakley and like she sat in a duck blind every Sunday. No matter what your party, don't you have to be somewhat "elite" in order to get elected to something? Like an "elite athelete?" That doesn't bother me so much - and I am quite amused that in order to get elected president, each of the three desperately needs my redneck vote. You know they hate that!
Speaking of voting, Nina Garcia has been "auffed" from her position as Fashion Director at Elle, with no reason giving for the firing. The only thing I have uncovered in my internet sleuthing is that she had just recently returned from an extended maternity leave and that things were tense with the new creative director. Is Elle a force in fashion? To me, I think of Vogue. This has happened the same week that the news has hit that Lifetime bought Project Runway from Bravo. Apparently, Garcia and top American designer Michael Kors are still in contract negotiations with Lifetime about their appearances on the show. Tim Gunn and Heidi Klum have both signed. Dang it, now I am going to have to find the Lifetime Channel on my tv..........just won't be the same without Bravo.
If you are watching John Adams on HBO or trying to catch up, I highly recommend Sunday's installment, the next to the last one, as a MUST see. My favorite so far includes all the drama of a colonial intervention, juicy Jefferson political intrigue, and some really bad teeth. Also, the White House under construction in the middle of a swamp. Good stuff!
Is Chris Matthews really going to run for senator form Pennsylvania when Arlen Spector retires, or was that portion of the Colbert Report still tongue in cheek? He needs some anti-drolling medication, or something.
My yard sale, having now been rained out twice, has turned into a massive drop at the Goodwill. I can not look at the stuff sitting in my living room any more. I am on my third trip......more later, have a great day everyone!
PA chick here, about to go crazy with all the Obama/Clinton shenanigans going on in my backyard. The biggest news today was the guy from Levittown who claims he is the inspiration for the guns and religion quote - and he's damn proud of it! He was planning on voting for Hilary anyway. She must have called in all of her favors. We've been inundated with commercial spots featuring Philly mayor Nutter or PA Guv Rendell explaining why they are backing Clinton. And both Bill and Chelsea have been speaking right down the street from me in Suburbia. I guess it's working - Hillary has a pretty commanding lead. I have to say - they both scare me.
I also have to say that I agree with your assessment of HBO's "John Adams." I am loving every minute of it, even though I was not a history major! I love the Thomas Jefferson depiction and have been wondering if there was anything ever suspected between him and Abigail. Some of the details, like you mention the teeth, have been fascinating. Well done!
