So last year this time I did not even know that Puerto Rico had a primary. Flash forward to one year later and I am watching network coverage of the doggone thing. I really don't understand it, seeing as how they can not vote in the general, but oh well.
Much more fun over the weekend was the Sex and the City movie. No spoilers here if you have not seen it. Safe to say, that if you were a fan of the series, you will find the movie satisfying, if not a little over the top in some places re" merchandise and product placement. SJP retains most of her charm as Carrie, and she can definitely act, though I missed a bit of her struggling writer persona - she is now a novelist and since she has been with Big, no need to shop at flea markets anymore. Kim Cattrall, the oldest at 51 in real life, IMHO looks the best. SJP is skinny to the point of bony in some scenes and they all have on too much makeup throughout - ladies, we know what that does. Sticks to the wrinkles - does not cover them up! Kristen Davis funny in this movie - maybe would have liked to see a little more of her? Also Jennifer Hudson a delight in a small but pivotal role. All in all, a good time was had by all! Not expecting Citizen Kane here - these are characters that we all, as fans, have a lot of affection for and if you watched the show, you know how they write for them so there really aren't any major surprises. Much like the Devil Wears Prada, I feel like I can probably watch it over and over again because it is visually stunning. Like the 17 year old son of one of the chix said, this is porn for women! Bring it on!
RIP Yves St. Laurent. Tatum O"Neal busted in LA for buying crack. PETA is after Siegfried and Roy saying they bought genetically mutated tigers for their Las Vegas act. Charlie Sheen got married again over the weekend. And how was your weekend???
I enjoyed the SATC movie completely and the first thing my friends and I said was that we want to see it again! I loved the "porn for women" comment and think he's got a point and an explanation of why I'm so drawn in. Thank you for saying that SJP was too thin and that Kim Cattrall has aged beautifully. I was surprised that the women looked so good and I actually thought that the one who looked like he aged was Jason Lewis. The shocker to me was that Cynthia Nixon had the most explicit sex scenes (discounting the unknown neighbor.) I'm sorry I didn't respond to the chick who wanted to know about taking her teenage daughter. My 19-yr-old daughter saw it with friends on Sunday. I am glad she did, but also glad she didn't go with me. I think it would have been a little awkward for us both. That aside, I think it's a great story about women's friendships and our daughters should see that.
