TGIF! Crack open the pinot noir - let's get the weekend started! Unless you are Lindsay Lohan, bless her heart. Good to hear she finally went to rehab - let's see if it takes. I'll be rooting for her - unlike some of the other "celebutantes" or whatever you want to call them, IMHO she's got some great acting talent. Also, you can tell from looking at her mom that there are "issues" and her dad's in jail...easier to root for her than for some of her peers.
Interesting to read about the American Idol debate this week - are the auditions too mean? Come on, as opposed to what? The real world? And now that her feud with the Donald is dying down, Rosie has to create drama by picking on Paula Abdul. A tad hypocritical, methinks.
However, as a self confessed AI fan, the stories I enjoy most are the heartwarming ones: the young naval officer serving on the Ronald Reagan, who wins his ship's version of "Reagan Idol," something they drummed up to relieve the boredom of being deployed, and his enthusiasm at making the cut. But my favorite was the camouflage dressed young woman who helps run her family's auto shop business and by helping run, I mean she crawls under the cars and does the work herself. She and her hubby are both reservists, and he is deployed in Iraq. After she made it through the audition there was a clip of her talking to her husband's laminated photo that she always wears around her neck,"next to her heart" playfully telling it she made it and kissing it for luck. For some reason, it made me tear up. The cringe-worthy moments are just that. Sometimes funny, sometimes not.
For this weekend, we have the documentary Word Play and finally, plan to watch Little Miss Sunshine. I think I will be the last person on the blog to see it. Have a great weekend everyone!
